HALEYVILLE - The Parks and Recreation Department and the City of Haleyville have entered into a partnership with the Coach Safely Foundation. The resolution was passed at the council meeting on Sept. 4.

SBI investigating Bear Creek

BEAR CREEK - Allegations of misspending of funds in the Town of Bear Creek has been raised to a new level, with an active investigation now underway by the State Bureau of Investigation. The SBI has been making visits to the Bear Creek Town Hall/Water Works building, seen in photo, as part of their investigation.

Winston County Schools invest in bus tracking system

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Winston County Schools have invested in even stronger student and staff safety features while on buses, thanks to the Zonar system, which tracks buses with location reports, rider status and driver performance, as well as other web-based features during routes.

Woman charged with assault of an officer

BEAR CREEK - A Bear Creek woman has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude a police officer, criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance, said Haleyville Police Chief Kyle Reogas.

Haleyville Council to apply for NACOLG revolving loan

HALEYVILLE - Several areas in need of paving are being eyed in the industrial section of Haleyville, now that the city has learned they can apply for up to $150,000 in a revolving loan project through the Northwest Alabama Council of Local Governments.

HALEYVILLE - Results from the election for places two and three of the Haleyville Board of Education Tuesday night, Aug. 28, showed Place 2 Incumbent Barry Burleson winning over opponent Beth Sunseri Moore in a close race.

HALEYVILLE - Governor Kay Ivey’s recent announcement of $365,158 in Appalachian Regional Commission funds to drastically improve broadband internet coverage in rural Alabama is good news for Bear Creek and Haleyville.
