Fire department responds to call at Lakeland hospital

HALEYVILLE - Smoke in the equipment room on the third floor of Lakeland Community Hospital brought response Thursday afternoon, Nov. 1, from the Haleyville Fire Department, to find smoke but no flames, according to Acting Chief Terrell Baccus.

ARLEY - The east side of Winston County will reap the benefit from AT&T Fixed Wireless Internet service, designed to bring high speed internet to rural, under-served locations such as Arley, Addison, Crane Hill and Logan.

Truck stolen from Better Built Trailers in Double Springs

DOUBLE SPRINGS - A vehicle was stolen from a local business last week, and police and the business owners are needing the public's health locating it.

A white 2007 GMC four-wheel drive truck with a flatbed was stolen from Better Built Trailers, in Double Springs sometime during the evening hours of Thursday, Oct. 18.  The single wheel truck has a custom cab light bar on top of it.

Unhappy voters come to Commission

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Voters are expressing grievance, some even saying they are being discriminated against in the voting process, since the precinct lines have changed due to the latest census, meaning some voters are now at a different polling site than where they have traditionally voted.

Burglary suspect breaks through back wall into Delmar Quick Stop

DELMAR   - A suspect tore a hole in the back wall of Delmar Quick Stop  early Friday morning, Oct. 12, in order to gain access into the store, where all of the cigarettes were cleaned out as well as all of the cash taken from the store’s ATM machine.
