Reed re-elected Alabama State Senate Majority Leader

MONTGOMERY  – The 27 Republican members of the Alabama Senate on Wednesday re-elected Greg Reed, of Jasper, to serve as the Senate Majority Leader. The unanimous election took place at a caucus meeting in Montgomery. Reed was first elected to the State Senate in 2010 and was chosen as Majority Leader in 2014 by his Republican colleagues.

Fate of Bridgeview Drive’s status lies with Circuit Court

ADDISON - The issue of whether a road currently known as Bridgeview Drive in the Addison area is a county road or not now rests in the Winston County Circuit Court for a judge to decide possibly in 2019.

Fire department responds to call at Lakeland hospital

HALEYVILLE - Smoke in the equipment room on the third floor of Lakeland Community Hospital brought response Thursday afternoon, Nov. 1, from the Haleyville Fire Department, to find smoke but no flames, according to Acting Chief Terrell Baccus.
