Legislators receive warm welcome at Meet and Greet

HALEYVILLE - Winston County's state legislative team received a warm welcome when they visited Haleyville Middle School Thursday night, Jan. 17, for a Meet and Greet event sponsored by the Haleyville Civitan Club.

Bigger fair this year? Officials say yes


The fair in Double Springs is set to begin Tuesday, April 23. It promises to be a bigger fair than last year with popularly known musical acts in the works.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Tuesday, April 23, through Saturday, April 27, are the dates for the fair this year in Double Springs, noted Crystal Till of Community Unity at the Double Springs Town Council meeting on Monday, Jan. 14.

Arley Police getting upgrades

Man arrested on Macedonia Road

HALEYVILLE - The call of a domestic disturbance at a residence on Macedonia Road Haleyville around 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, led Haleyville Police and the Winston County Sheriff's Office to the scene, where a m an was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant as well as drug related charges.

Two vehicle collision on Highway 195, Haleyville

The Haleyville Police Department is on the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 195, near Rowe Building Supply, in Haleyville. Around 3 p.m., a red Ford Ranger pickup and a four-door silver colored Buick were involved in the accident.  One injury has been reported with RPS on the scene. Traffic is currently down to one lane, so please be aware if traveling in that vicinity. Ward's Wrecker Service  and Lyle's Wrecker were called to the scene.

WINSTON COUNTY - The opioid abuse epidemic in Winston County has prompted officials from throughout the region to band together and form a coalition to not only fight the problem, but create measures to help those suffering from abuse.
