Carroll named to Troy University Chancellor’s List
TROY - Evelyn Carroll, of Haleyville, has been named to the chancellor’s list at Troy University for the fall semester/term 2 of the 2023-2024 academic year.
The chancellor’s list honors full-time undergraduate students who are registered for at least 12 semester hours and who earn a grade point average of 4.0.
Troy University is a public, historic, international university with 22,500 students and 154,000 alumni.

Man charged in death of infant daughter
DOUBLE SPRINGS - As of late Saturday evening, December 30, Shannon Lee Stewart 33 of Double Springs, has been charged with capital murder in the death of his infant daughter, 2-month-old Amasia Faith Stewart, according to Winston County Sheriff Caleb Snoddy.
There will be more charges pending and information to follow, as this is a sensitive and ongoing investigation which is being conducted by the Sheriffs Office. Sheriff Snoddy asks for the public to please pray for the family, sheriffs office staff and others involved at this time,
Dixie Theatre celebrates its 75th anniversary
