Phone issues for Winston County governmental departments continue
Small earthquake detected in Winston County Wednesday morning
WINSTON COUNTY - The Geological Survey of Alabama is reporting that a magnitude 2.3 earthquake occurred in Winston County Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 6 a.m. approximately 8.5 miles north of Double Springs in the Bankhead National Forest. The quake was detected over 4 miles below ground.
Commissioners give reasons why County Road 54 is still not fixed
The status of a restoration project for the collapsed section of County Road 54 near Haleyville is in limbo until county officials can decide on a cheaper route toward making repairs.

No garbage pickup in Haleyville Monday
HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Street and Sanitation Department will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of Labor Day. Therefore, there will be no trash collection on that date.
Monday’s route will be collected on Tuesday, Sept. 5, along with the regular Tuesday route.
