WINSTON COUNTY - Governor Kay Ivey has awarded $16,500 to the Winston County Commission to be used for the COIN Program for local at-risk youth.
COIN, which stands for Conquer, Open, Invest and Navigate, provides at-risk youth with positive interactions with counselors, life coaches, educational work programs and a liaison to help participants find a more successful path in life.
“Youth who are at-risk of further involvement with the criminal justice system need good mentors and educational programs to help them find ways to be more productive and contributing members of our society,” Ivey said. “I commend this organization for working with youth and families to help them find a path to a better future.”
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice.
ADECA manages a wide array of programs that support a number of vital services to the state.
