DOUBLE SPRINGS - A committee formed by the Winston County E-9-1-1 Board is seeking a replacement for Winston County Enhanced 9-1-1 Director Tim Webb who will retire in February with over 36 years of total service to the state.
Board member Tom Grubbs announced at the Nov. 27, Winston County Commission meeting that Webb’s retirement would be effective Feb. 1, 2024, and that the process of seeking a replacement is not being taken lightly.
“Tim’s service has been exemplary,” Grubbs stressed. “He had surveying experience. He saved us a whole lot of money doing the mapping and all. I definitely hate to see (Tim) go.”
Webb, who also owns a surveying business, used his knowledge and insight in that profession to help survey the county for GIS mapping for the E-9-1-1 office, county officials said.
In seeking Webb’s replacement, the board wants an applicant with surveying experience, as well as a resident of Winston County with at least two years of a college education and knowledge of the E-9-1-1 system, according to Grubbs.
A three-person committee from the Winston County E-9-1-1 board was formed to review the applications, county officials said. The deadline to submit an application ended December 8, with all applications received by board attorney Jeff Mobley, E-9-1-1 officials said.
