Howard Allen "Bumpy" Courson, Jr., 75, of Pulaski, Tenn., passed away at his home on Sunday, April 28, 2024. He was born on July 20, 1948, in Paw Paw, Michigan. He was raised in Okeechobee, Florida and lived there most of his life.
Bumpy loved the outdoors. He was an avid commercial fisherman and nuisance gator hunter. If you didn't see him out on the lake or at a nearby residence, he would be out in the airboat gigging frogs. For many, he was a legend, as he participated in several National Geographic shows with Dr. Brady Bar and as Uncle Grumpy on Swamp People with Troy Landry, but he always saw himself as an average man who loved to fish and gator hunt.
Bumpy is survived by his sons, David Bufford, Clint Courson and Joshua Courson (Melissa); daughters, Dora Courson, Kimberly Courson, Sonja Grien (Randy) and Laura Dixon (Byron); brothers, Don Courson and Henry Courson; grandchildren, Maddison Hanner, Isaac Courson, Ellis Dixon, Rebecca Waddell, Joshua Courson, Nathan Courson and DJ Courson; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Courson and Grayson Courson, father-in law and mother-in-law, Cecil & Bonnie Baldwin and several nieces and nephews.
Bumpy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Debra Baldwin Courson, parents, Howard and Violet Courson; brothers, Roy and Dale Courson; sister-in-law, Cheryl Courson and great-nephew, Archer Thomas.
His visitation will be Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from noon - 1 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. His funeral will be at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Burial to follow in Houston Church of God Cemetery.
