Marilyn Gail Cooper

With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of Marilyn Gail Cooper, also known as “Nanny”, 71, Monday, May 6, 2024, surrounded by her family.
The loss of Gail brings a sadness to the world, for when she was in it, the sun shined a little brighter and the birds sang a little louder. Gail was the most beautiful of souls you could meet. She loved with her whole heart.  She would care and give for everyone who came into her path throughout her journey of life. She used her gift and was a schoolteacher for 34 years, retiring from Hackleburg Elementary so she could care for her husband, Freddy Cooper. After retirement, she lived the most rich life, surrounded constantly with family and loved ones doing her favorite things.

Gail is survived by her sister, Gwenda Veras (Joe); daughter, Kelly Rouse (Larry); son, Casey Cooper (Alicia); grandchildren, Ashton Waldrop (Matt), Aidan Rouse, Mason Swinney, Mary Kathryn Swinney, Samuel Swinney, Saylor Cooper, Alexa Rouse and Alivia Rouse; one great-grandchild, Cooper Waldrop and brothers, Larry Cooper (Brenda) and Paul Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddy Cooper; sister, Connie Vickery; brother, Joey Haithcock and her parents, J.W. and Marjorie Haithcock.

Gail’s service will be held at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville on Saturday, May 11, 2024, with visitation from 11 a.m. -1 p.m., and her funeral at 1 p.m. in the chapel.
