Dorman Lavon Creel, affectionately known by all as Bones, was born on July 24, 1942, in Graysville to Elmer and Essie Creel. He passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Lakeland Hospital in Haleyville.
Bones is survived by the love of his life, Betti Jayne Creel; their daughter, Alicia Kathryn Carroll; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Blake and Collin Carroll, as well as a niece, four nephews and his sister, Sondra C. Fountain.
He loved his career in sales and his favorite hobby was his interest in vintage cars. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Bones loved his family and was a simple and humble man. He was a quiet man of few words, but when he spoke, you listened. If he was your friend, you had a true friend for life.
A graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville on Thursday, March 6 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Coy Hallmark officiating. A memorial service will be held in Haleyville at a later date. Laughlin Service Funeral Home of Huntsville will direct.
