Gloria Jean Hicks, 91, of Haleyville went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 19, surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with Bro. Ritchie Emerson officiating. The burial will follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Richard Defoor, Wesley Hicks, Jody Holdbrooks, Samuel Eliiott, Garrett Story and Brett Whaley.
She is survived by her children, Carol (Lanier) Defoor, Angie (Jerry) Willis and Randy (Wanda) Hicks; grandchildren, Andrea (Garret) Story, Richard (Misty) Defoor, Ginger (Jody) Holdbrooks, Wesley (Mallory) Hicks and Alyssa (Samuel) Elliott; great grandchildren, Madison Defoor, Brett Whaley, Maggie Whaley, Heather Story, Hunter Story, Caleb Elliott, Samantha Elliott, Weston Hicks, Haley Walton and Breanna Bieryla; great great grandchildren, Lilly, Ryker and A.J.; sister, Ann Hollis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Alvie Lee Foster; husband, John O. Hicks; sister, Sue Farris; and brother in law, Bill Hollis.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who dearly loved her family, and her family dearly loved her. While living in an assisted living facility, she was always the life of the party and made many loving friends, and they loved her. She loved doing yard work and flowers. She loved to read and mostly loved reading her Bible.
