Janette Rooks, 80, of the Moreland community, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 at her home.
Janette was born March 21, 1945 to Anice and Samuel Miller. She was born and raised in Houston. She loved raising a garden and canning. Janette grew chickens for many years and always loved planting and raising flowers. She loved fishing and could catch catfish with the best of them! Janette loved her family, her children, and grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and loved to 'pick' on the granddaughter's husbands. Janette loved church until she was unable to go. She loved to travel, especially to the mountains. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her companion, Windle.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 11, 2025 from 12 - 2 p.m. at New Home Baptist Church in Moreland, where her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Moreland Cemetery. Brother Abe Rooks, Brother David Miller, and Brother Bobby Smith will officiate.
Janette is survived by her daughter, Tanya (Marlous) Daniel; son, Greg (Kim) Rooks; granddaughters, Megan (JonMark) Nelson, Morgan (Jacob) Fields, Katelyn (Holden) Sudduth and Kendall (Andre) McFarlane; great-grandchildren, Maggie Rae Nelson and Laney Nelson; companion, Windle Martin; sister, Jewel (Jerry) Pullins and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ellis Rooks; parents, Samuel M. and Anice Miller and brothers and sisters, J. L. Miller, Geneva Harden, Juanita Key, and Carlton Miller.
