CORDOVA - John MIller Lawson was clutch at the plate with ducks on the pond on Tuesday, March 19, driving in four on three hits to lead Haleyville Lions baseball team past Cordova 6-1. Lawson drove in runs on a triple in the third, a double in the fifth, and a double in the seventh.
Blake Bennett led things off on the mound for Haleyville. He allowed two hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out 10.
HHS collected nine hits. Lawson, Scott McAlpine, and Ty Black all managed multiple hits for Haleyville. Lawson went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Lions in hits. Haleyville was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Black had the most chances in the field with 11.
