ALICEVILLE - The Winston County Yellow Jackets (2-4, 0-3) met up with another set of Jackets at Aliceville (5-1, 4-0) Friday night and got stung 39-0.
Aliceville got on the board late in the first quarter on a 12-yard pass to Matthew Clark. Zavieon Hinton’s PAT was good, and Aliceville was up 7-0.
The home team would score twice more in the first half, on an 11-yard pass to Brandon Thomas and a 12-yard run by Thomas. Winston County went into halftime down 19-0.
Aliceville would score three more times in the second half. Deveren Wilkins got the first two scores on 36 and 6-yard runs, respectively, and Zavien Wilkins scored the final points of the game early in the fourth quarter, making the final score 39-0.
WCHS was hurt by penalties in the game, with two interceptions and a fumble. The Aliceville defensive line really shut down the running game for Winston County, which only rushed for 70 yards, compared to Aliceville’s 250.
The Winston County Yellow Jackets will be back home this Friday night in another tough regional game, this time against Cold Springs (3-3, 2-1).
