Tremayne up for two Alabama Music Awards

Tremayne is up for two Alabama Music Awards this year, and the public has the opportunity to help the band win.

DOUBLE SPRINGS -  One of the best local bands is receiving a great honor, during a time that is particularly difficult for musicians and artists.
Tremayne, founded and fronted by Mike Mayhall, of Double Springs, is up for two Alabama Music Awards this year.  The band has been nominated for Country Male Artist of the Year and Best Country Male Band of the Year.
Mayhall, who serves as a vocalist, guitarist and even fiddler for the band, stated that he and the rest of Tremayne -  vocalist Lauren Ritter, bass player/vocalist Maurice Lacey Jr., drummer/vocalist John Littrell and  keyboardists/vocalists N.C. Thurman and Wayne Walker - are beyond thrilled over the nominations.
“We are so thankful to God.  It is a great honor to be nominated.  It is very humbling, and we are so thankful,”  Mayhall said.
Tremayne is the reigning Country Music Male Vocalist winners at the Alabama Music Awards, having won in the category for the first time last year.  Mayhall was in the audience for the awards ceremony last year.  This year, Tremayne will have the added honor of performing during the awards show, which is scheduled to take place Sunday, July 26, at the Bessemer Civic Center.  Mayhall said the band is very excited to have the opportunity to perform at this year’s ceremony.
“It feels awesome to have the chance to perform live there,”  Mayhall said.
Performing live before an audience is something Tremayne has not had the chance to do in weeks, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.  All entertainment venues are shuttered and have been for some time, placing an extra hardship on musicians, not just financially, but emotionally.
“Nobody has any gigs right now, from Tremayne to Garth Brooks. It has shut us down. We’ll all be on stage again soon hopefully,”  Mayhall said.
Mayhall has been keeping Tremayne fans entertained via Facebook, performing two live concerts for free to help lift their spirits.
The public has the chance to vote for Tremayne to help them win the Alabama Music Awards, an awards show which encompasses all genres of music.  To vote for Tremayne, go to, then click on the menu, which is the three lines at the top right of the home page.  Choose the  Vote Here category, then find Tremayne’s categories.  You do not have to vote in every category listed to participate.
Mayhall and all the members of Tremayne are grateful to everyone who takes time to vote for them.
“We are so thankful for our Tremayne family, friends and certainly, our fans.  We have the best fans in the world.  We appreciate your votes in the two categories we are nominated in this year.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,”  Mayhall said.
Formed in 2009, Tremayne seamlessly blends country, rock, blue-eyed soul, R&B, blues and even fiddling tunes together to create a versatile style that easily crosses between music genres.  To learn more about Tremayne, visit their website:, or go to Mike Mayhall’s Facebook page.
