HALEYVILLE - The true meaning of veterans’ service and sacrifice to America will not be hidden behind regulations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, but will be celebrated in a safe manner in downtown Haleyville Saturday, Nov. 7.
The annual parade and program honoring veterans will take place this year, with the parade lineup set for 9:30 a.m. at Haleyville Elementary School, noted Mickey Holdbrooks, adjutant of American Legion Post 33.
As the line-up is taking place at the school, the focus will be in the downtown area at the memorials located in front of CVS Pharmacy facing Highway 13 and 20th Street.
During a 9:45 a.m. ceremony, Circuit Judge Lee Carter, a veteran of the Marine Corps, will do the honors of laying a wreath at the war memorial commemorating those who have lost their lives defending their country through the years.
