Haleyville man charged with murder

HALEYVILLE  - An 84-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of an  89-year-old woman found in the house where he was living Saturday morning, Aug. 7.
Tillman Lamar Hill, who resided at the house in the 500 block of 21st Street (where the incident occurred) was taken into custody at the scene, charged with murder and transported to the Winston County Jail in Double Springs, authorities said.
The victim was identified as Eunice Imogene Hill, 89, of that same address, according to Winston County Coroner Tracy Holley, who pronounced the individual dead at 11:38 a.m.
Imogene Hill’s body was transported from the residence by the coroner to the coroner’s office and was then transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Huntsville, for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death, authorities said.
Imogene Hill’s body will be released from forensics to Nichols Funeral Home, which will handle arrangements, Holley said.
Based on information found in the Alabamian’s Jan. 25, 2003, edition, the defendant and victim were brother and sister.
Around 10:22 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, Haleyville Police were called on a possible deceased person in the 500 block of 21st Street, noted Lt. Eddie Collins, investigator with the Haleyville Police Department.
“When the officers arrived, they realized the death was not natural causes and possibly a homicide,” Collins stated.
Collins and Haleyville Police Chief Rodney Lewis were then notified to respond to the scene.
When Collins and Lewis arrived and saw evidence of a homicide, Rusty Hulsey, investigator with the Winston County District Attorney’s Office, was contacted to provide assistance, Collins said.
Tillman Hill was taken into custody, charged with murder and transported by Haleyville Police to the county jail.
Police are not releasing any further details until the body is released from forensics, according to Collins.

*When a defendant is charged with a crime, the charge is merely an accusation until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
