DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Free State Beekeepers Association in Double Springs will be hosting a free two-part beginner beekeeper class at their monthly meetings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Late winter or early spring is the time to order or buy packages and nucs to start beekeeping. This class will teach you the first steps to beekeeping so that you are prepared when the bees arrive. You will learn the basics and how to plan for a year of beekeeping, plus find a mentor.
The class will be held at Andrea Glenn's Sipsey Creek Farm, 3816 County Road 78, north of Double Springs. Contact Glenn at (205) 275-7587 for more information.
While the class is free, door prize donations would be appreciated.
