Double Springs Mayor Elmo Robinson
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Elmo Robinson will soon be retiring from town business, after serving as mayor the past 22 years and town council member 11 years before that.
Robinson’s last day in office will be Friday, Oct. 31, since he chose not to seek reelection in the August 26, municipal elections.
Two candidates are running for mayor - retired police chief Kim Miller and resident Neil Nielsen. The winner of the mayor’s race will take office in November, town officials said.
Robinson has been involved with town business dating back to 1988, when he was first elected to serve on the town council, he recalled.
“I wanted to be involved and wanted to help make a difference,” Robinson said.
