Arvell Leon Hunter, 93, of Haleyville, passed away Monday, August 18, 2025 at Lakeland Community Hospital.
Arvell was born February 15, 1932 to Millard and Pearlie Hunter. He was a hard worker and never stopped a day. He was still escorting oversized loads up until the covid pandemic. He was kind, loved yard work and gardening. Most of all, Arvell was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 1-2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where his funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Thornhill Cemetery in Haleyville. Riley Holt will officiate.
Arvell is survived by his wife, Iva Jean Hunter; son, Thomas (Sandy) Hunter; stepdaughter, Carrie (Jeff) Price; stepson, Dwayne (Connie) Dodd; grandchildren, Shane (Michelle) Hunter, Chad Hunter, David Hunter, Seab Hunter, Anna Hunter, April McGough, Jessie McMhan, Alex (Lauren) Price; Nichole (Riley) Holt Keith Dodd and Michelle Sorells; his best friend, his dog, Mikey Dodd and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Pearlie Hunter; first wife, Imogene Hunter; son, Dewayne Hunter; three brothers and three sisters.
