Darlene Joy Kelley Gautreaux, 71, of Haleyville, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence surrounded by her family.
Darlene was born March 31, 1954 to Albert and Marie Kelley. She was first a child of God - strong, loving, unselfish, kind and beautiful. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, loved singing in the choir and participating in activities there serving Christ. Darlene enjoyed fishing, camping, playing card games, watching "True Crime" television shows and reading. Most of all, she loved taking care of her family.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 12-1 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will be at New Prospect Cemetery. Dr. Ron Horton and Sister Deb Guthrie will officiate.
Darlene is survived by her son, Jason Gautreaux; daughter, Jennifer (Aric) Garrard; sisters, Cynthia (Richard) Hardy and Cynthia (Rick) Layfield; grandchildren, Samantha Clark, Frederick (Jacqualynn) Markham, Brayden Garrard, Hannah Garrard, Becca Gautreaux and Tavina Yoff; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Landon Markham and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Henry J. "Goat" Gautreaux; parents, Albert Jackson and Marie Cochran Kelley; stepmother, Violet Kelley; son, Matthew Gautreaux and sister, Lisa Karen Kelley.
