James "Dude" McCreless

James E. "Dude" McCreless, 96, of Haleyville, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, was a member of the American Legion Post 33 and VFW. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Ninth Avenue Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for many years.

His visitation will be Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 1 - 3 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. His funeral will be at 3 p.m. in the chapel, with Mark Posey and Vance Hutton officiating. Burial to follow in Winston Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. McCreless is survived by his wife of over 73 years, Jewell Farris McCreless; children, Patricia Ann (Grailen) Weeks, Rickey James ( Leisa) McCreless, Kathy Lynne (Doug) Farris and Bryan Keith (Lisa) McCreless; grandchildren, Sean Michael (Whitney) Coffey, Shannon Kelley (Jeremy) Winchester, Rickey (Katrina) McCreless, Jr., Mac Lee McCreless, Frank (Mary) McCreless, Jessica (Adam) Sutherland, Samantha (Brian) Baulch, Kyle (Katie) McCreless, Kameron (Lauren) McCreless and Kaleb (Jessie) McCreless and great-grandchildren, Emerson Mansell, Owen Todd, Briton McCreless, Jackson McCreless, Italie McCreless, Baker McCreless, Ashlyn McCreless, Violet McCreless, Kelby McCreless, Knox McCreless, Ellison McCreless, Grant McCreless, Granger McCreless and Perri McCreless.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Claude and Annie Mae McCreless; sister, Lorine Page and brothers, J.L. McCreless, J.B. McCreless and William Hoyatt McCreless.
