Roney Lee Vickery, 77, of Haleyville, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025 at Haleyville Rehab and Health Care.
Roney was born May 28, 1948 to Van Vickery Sr. and Lillie Mae Vickery. He loved his family, Alabama football and his dogs, Tiny and Baby. He spent his years as a truck driver and was known by many as "Hornet Man".
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 9:30 -11 a.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where his funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Botush Cemetery in Haleyville. Brother Mark Fell will officiate.
Roney is survived by his children, Bradley (Tameka) Vickery, Daniel (Jessica) Vickery, Amy Tidwell, Brandy (Bobby) Irwin and Sherry Hyde; grandchildren, Zachary Morgan, Tara (Jacob) Frazier, Wyatt Tidwell, Owen Vickery, Mazie Kate Vickery, Tristen Dye and Destin Dye; great-grandchildren, Lillie Wright, Noah Wright, Masen Wright, Maggie Morgan, Grady Morgan and Brooklynne Whitten and brother, Gary Vickery.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Althea Taylor Vickery; parents, Van and Lillie Vickery; son-in-law, Chuck Morgan; brothers, Super Vickery, Clyde Vickery, Grady Vickery, Bill Vickery, Ralph Vickery and Bobby Vickery and sisters, Mildred Smith and Carolyn Barnett.
