George Thomas "Tom" Vickery

George Thomas “Tom” Vickery, of Haleyville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, at the age of 78.  There will be no service, but there will be a celebration of life with family and friends at a later date to be determined.
 He was born on November 26, 1947, in Washington, DC.  He grew up in Suitland, MD and graduated from Suitland High School in 1965. He graduated from the University of Maryland-College Park in 1969, with a B.S. degree in finance and business management. He worked as a financial advisor (stockbroker) and was a vice president for Merrill Lynch for 31+ years. He retired to Sarasota, Fla. with his beautiful wife of close to 55 years in 2003. His passion and goal in life always revolved around his love for his family.  He cared for his wife, who had FTD dementia, the last 9+ years and was able to come home to Haleyville in 2020 to be closest to his oldest son, Brian, and his family.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Burton Vickery and Ottie Inez Pulliam Vickery,  along with his brother, Jack Pulliam Vickery.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Elena Vickery; his children, son, Brian Thomas Vickery and wife Ashley (Mann)Vickery, of Haleyville; daughter, Michelle Vickery Natysin and husband Adam Natysin, of Haymarket, Va. and son, Christopher Scott Vickery, of Haleyville; granddaughters, Katlyn, Kiley, Reese, Paige, Mariella and Lexi Rae and great-granddaughter, Sophie.
