Haleyville Mayor declares local state of emergency

Haleyville Mayor Dr. Ray Boshell declared a local state of emergency as a precautionary measure Friday, Jan. 23, in preparedness for the potential for winter weather over the weekend.

"This declaration does not mean conditions are currently dangerous, nor does it indicate panic or immediate disruption. It is simply a planning and preparedness tool that allows the City to:

• Mobilize public works, police, fire, and emergency services in advance

• Pre-position equipment, supplies, and personnel

• Streamline coordination with county and state agencies

• Act quickly if road conditions, power outages, or other issues arise

"Declaring a State of Emergency ahead of time helps us respond faster if conditions worsen, rather than reacting after problems occur.

"At this time, city operations continue as normal. We encourage residents to stay informed, check forecasts, and take common-sense precautions as the weather develops.

"We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. Our goal is simple: be prepared, communicate clearly, and keep our community safe,"  Boshell said.
