Mackenzie Alexis Berlin, 19, of Haleyville, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence.
Mackenzie was born June 26, 2006, to Mark Benefield and Brooke Berlin in Winfield. She was a great mother and worked multiple jobs to support her loving family. She loved and cherished her family above all else.
Visitation will be Sunday March 8, 2026, from 12-2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Brother Shane Long will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery in Phil Campbell.
Mackenzie is survived by her grandparents, Sammy and Bridget Colburn; father, Mark Benefield; mother, Brooke Berlin; significant other, Luke Melton; son, Drake Melton; daughter, Everleigh Kate Melton; brothers, Dustin Benefield, Bentley Benefield, River and Britton Barnes; sisters, Emma Mae Differding, Remi, Kassie Benefield and Vanessa Benefield and a host of cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Randall Johnson; great-grandfather, Johnny Colburn; great-grandparents, Fred and Francis Dodson and uncles, Chris Berlin and Vernon Colburn.
