Two local basketball players, Allie McCollum and Gracie Hallman, of Phillips High School, were issued invitations to the 100 girls basketball player to participate in the Elite Basketball Showcase, according to Jamie Lee, director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association.
The Boys’ Showcase was held at Hoover High School and the Girls’ Showcase at Spain Park High School, on June 22.
The ahowcase allowed outstanding student-athletes still in high school the opportunity to participate in this special camp that is open to college coaches to attend. It was a joint project of the AHSAA, NFHS and NCAA.
AHSAA coaches nominated players for this event and the AHSADCA Showcase Selection Committee chose 100 boys and 100 girls to attend.
“This showcase brought our best basketball players together in one setting. This is a great opportunity for our schools to get exposure for our high school basketball players,” Lee said.
