WINSTON COUNTY - With the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus-2019 or COVID-19 increasing it seems by the minute within Alabama, State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris put out a new health order effective Saturday, March 28, at 5 p.m. for the following types of "non-essential" businesses to be closed to non-employees:
- Barber shops
- Hair salons
- Waxing salons
- Threading salons
- Nail salons and spas
- Body-art facilities and tattoo services
- Tanning salons
- Massage therapy establishments and massage services
- Fitness centers and commercial gyms
- Public or commercial swimming pools
- Activities that require use of shared sporting apparatus and equipment
- Activities on commercial or public playground equipment
- Furniture or home furnishing stores
- Clothing, shoe and clothing accessory stores
- Jewelry, luggage and leather goods stores
- Department stores
- Sporting goods stores
- Book, craft and music stores
- Night clubs
- Bowling alleys
- Arcades
- Concert venues
- Theaters, auditoriums and performing arts centers
- Tourist attractions (including museums and planetariums)
- Racetracks
- Indoor children's play areas
- Adult entertainment venues
- Casinos
- Bingo halls
- Venues operated by social clubs
Also, as of 5 p.m. Saturday, March 28, all dental, medical or surgical procedures shall be postponed until further notice, subject to the following exceptions:
- Dental, medical or surgical procedures necessary to treat an emergency medical condition. Emergency medical condition is defined in this order as a medical condition that manifests with acute symptoms of sufficient severity (such as severe pain, psychiatric disturbances and/or symptoms of substance abuse) such as the absence of immediate medical attention could reasonably be expected by a person's healthcare provider to play the person's health in serious jeopardy or cause serious impairment to bodily functions.
- Dental, medical or surgical procedures necessary to avoid serious harm from an underlying condition or disease or necessary as part of a patient's ongoing and active treatment.
