HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Lions will be well represented in the 61st annual North-South All-Star Football game in Montgomery July 15.
Defensive tackle Matthew Stephens has been named one of the North's All-Stars. The 6'2" 275 lb. tackle will be joined on the field by his head coach, Chris Musso, who has been named one of the assistant coaches for the North All-Star team. HHS Assistant Coach Andy Lambert will serve as the North's administrative coach for the game.
Joining Stephens, Musso and Lambert in Montgomery will be several players who local teams faced during the past football season, including Luke McKinney, of Winfield City High School; Tadarien McIntosh, of Pickens County High School; Silas Thompson, of Piedmont High School; and Andrew Corkren, of Northside High School.
The South holds a 31-27-2 edge in the North-South series, which began in 1948. The South won 22-19 last July to snap the North's four-game winning streak.
