Bobby Ray Gray, 89, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at his home in Elora, Tenn. His visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021, from 1-3 p.m. at Hazel Green Funeral Home in Hazel Green. Following cremation, his ashes will be buried at Antioch Cemetery in Double Springs at a later date.
Bobby was born Aug. 18, 1931, in Double Springs. He had a rewarding professional life, retiring from Ford Motor Company in Ohio and Teledyne in Lewisburg, Tenn. He was dedicated to his community, exemplified by his active membership in the Elora Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years and running the Elora Community Center several years. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, woodworking and making bird houses out of gourds he grew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Agnes Gray; a son, Terry Dale Gray and a daughter, Tina Rodgers.
Bobby is survived by his life partner, Doris Key, of Elora; a son, Larry (Diane) Gray, of Fayetteville, Tenn..; two daughters, Pam Drake, of Fayetteville and Charlotte Jacobs, of Hazel Green and brothers, Wayne Gray, of Early Branch, S.C. and Joe Gray, of Northport. He also leaves nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Dewayne Owens and his beloved dog, Friskie, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
