HALEYVILLE - Haleyville City Schools will hold kindergarten registration on Wednesday, March 31, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the library by appointment only.
Registration forms can be picked up now and must be returned no later than Friday, March 12. This will allow time to schedule the appointments.
A child being registered for kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2021 and meet Haleyville City Board enrollment requirements before he/she can attend school for the 2021-2022 school year.
Parents or guardians registering prospective kindergarten students are encouraged to bring the following:
• the child’s birth certificate;
• immunization certificate showing that the child has had all of the following required immunizations: DPT, polio, measles and mumps. Alabama law requires proof of the immunization before a child can enter kindergarten or first grade;
• child’s Social Security card;
• proof of residency;
• custody papers (if applicable);
• driver’s license of parent/guardian.
A team of kindergarten teachers will be administering the HES kindergarten screener to all children who will attend kindergarten in the fall of 2021. Therefore, it will be necessary to bring prospective kindergartners to the registration appointment to receive the screening. The teachers plan to make this a fun experience for the children. Parents can help by planning to make this a special outing for their preschoolers.
Haleyville Elementary realizes that some parents have to work and can only come at certain times. They will adjust their schedule to accommodate working parents. However, it is important that all parents or guardians register eligible children on March 31.
For more information, call the school at (205) 486-3405.
The enrollment of homeless, migratory, and ELL students will not be denied or delayed in accordance to the Haleyville City School Board’s policy.
