Tornado watch issued for Winston County
WINSTON COUNTY- A tornado watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for Winston County at 9:11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, effective until 4:00 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. The Tornado Watch means there is the possibility of tornadoes in the incoming storm system approaching the state from Mississippi. Winston County Commission Chairman David Cummings reported that all storm shelters throughout Winston County are open and available if needed. Haleyville Mayor Ken Sunseri noted all city shelters are also open. Any updates will be provided as they become available.

Winston County roads deemed passable with travel advisory
WINSTON COUNTY- Winston County Commission Chairman David Cummings reported at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday January 11, that all Winston County roads were deemed passable, but a travel advisory was still listed due to ice lingering on roads and bridges.
"Travel is not advised, but if necessary, use extreme caution due to the potential of slick roads, bridges and black ice," Cummings stated.
Residents seemed to better adhere to warnings to stay off the roads during the two to four inches of snow the area received in the winter storm early Friday, Jan. 10, Cummings reported.
New communications equipment coming
The three acres, leased to the Winston County Firefighters Association, where the new communication tower will be placed is located behind the Delmar Fire Department off Highway 13.
