HHS Theater Class presents interactive murder-mystery play this weekend

The Haleyville High School Theater Class will be bringing two productions, including a murder-mystery live-action Clue game, to the stage at the Heart of Haleyville Park this weekend. HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville High School Theater Class is bringing some murder and mayhem to downtown Haleyville this weekend with two productions, including a live-action Clue-style murder-mystery event with optional public participation.

Eyesore properties could be cleaned up through grant

The former Scottish Thrift Motel in Haleyville is one of two properties already submitted by their owners to be potentially cleaned up through a Community Development Block Grant the city will be applying to receive. HALEYVILLE - The public is being urged to participate in a potential city-operated program, either by submitting their own properties in need of demolition or cleanup, or by writing letters of support, for a grant that would pay for a significant property clean-up as part of the city’s ongoing revitalization efforts.
The city conducted a public hearing prior to its Monday, April 20, council meeting to hear input from the public on this potential program, which resulted in questions and some concerns being expressed.

HALEYVILLE - A resolution moving forward with a $3 million water improvement project received the go-ahead from the Haleyville Water and Sewer Board at their Tuesday, April 28, meeting.

HALEYVILLE - Wednesday, April 30, 1986, is being remembered with sadness, as well as treasured memories, as now-retired educators are looking back 40 years to when the Haleyville School building on Highway 195 was destroyed by fire just a few weeks before the end of the school year.

HALEYVILLE - The Heart of Haleyville Park Committee is inviting everyone to come out to the park Saturday, May 2, at 6 p.m. to see a young man who is making quite a name for himself with his tribute to the one and only Elvis Presley.

HALEYVILLE - Renovation work at the pilot’s lounge area at the Haleyville Municipal Airport is currently being done as just the first step ahead of a major overhaul project coming later, thanks to the approval of an $800,000 grant through the Airport Terminal Program, a branch of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program.
