Numerous personnel items approved by Haleyville BOE

HALEYVILLE - Personnel items, including, leaves, resignations, transfers and new hires, comprised most of the agenda of the Haleyville Board of Education’s regular meeting Tuesday, May 22, in efforts of getting all personnel in place for the start of the 2018-2019 school year. Tenure or the completion of three years continuos service status was granted for elementary certified staff Leah Howell, Tiffany Odom and Dana Pettus. Non-probationary status was granted for support personnel at the elementary school: Michelle Dempsey and Rafael Deleon-Revilla. Tenure was granted for certified personnel at the middle school, including Brandy Vickery and Judson Williams. Non-probationary status was granted for middle school support personnel, including Susan Lollar and Cecil Reynolds. High School certified personnel being approved to receive tenure are Mike McCandless and Will Romine. Steven Howard was placed under tenure as certified personnel at the Haleyville Center of Technology. Central office support personnel receiving non-probationary status was Misty Gibson. The following resignations were approved: Adam Lawler as junior varsity boys basketball coach for the high school effective May 1; Susan Lollar as head coach for the junior varsity girls’ volleyball and as assistant coach for the varsity girls’ volleyball program at the high school, effective May 1; Wendy Lewis as bus aide effective May 12; Chante Nelson as elementary education paraprofessional effective Aug. 2; Sydney Kiser as elementary school speech and language pathology assistant effective May 25; Jyl Loden as elementary school speech and language pathology assistant effective May 25. The following hirings were done by the board: Abby Huff as special education teacher at the middle school effective Aug. 2; Leah Epperson as reading specialist at the elementary school effective Aug. 2; Guy Rains as social worker for Haleyville City Schools effective May 22; Olivia Tank as elementary school teacher effective Aug. 2; Heather Fannin as elementary school teacher effective Aug. 2; Heather Carroll as instructional paraprofessional at the elementary school effective Aug. 2; Lisa Emerson as Bright Star tutor for the elementary; Kaeson Dre Knight for the summer outdoor worker position to assist custodians effective May 23; Robert Mason Lambert for summer indoor worker to assist custodians effective May 23. Judy Thompson was voluntarily transferred from high school secretary to secretary at the board of education central office effective June 1. Cheryl Mills was hired as high school bookkeeper effective May 26. Angela Jones and Julie Wilcoxson were hired as Extended School Year teachers; Tina Moody, Chante Nelson and Vicki Page hired as paraprofessionals for that program and Amber Lambert, Kristi Ward, Linda Godsey, Gina Wilson and Pam Woodard hired as substitute teachers for June and July. Amy Farris was voluntarily transferred from 10th grade English teacher at the high school to 7th grade English teacher at the middle school effective Aug. 2. Brent McCoy was voluntarily transferred from middle school English teacher to elementary school physical education teacher effective Aug. 2; Allie Austin was voluntarily transferred from high school self contained special education teacher 7-12 to Haleyville City Schools speech language pathology assistant effective Aug. 2. A leave of absence was approved for Leah Howell under a Family Medical Leave from Aug. 20-Nov. 6 and for Deborah Melton under the Family Medical Leave for the period of Aug. 8-Sept. 19.
