BANKHEAD NATIONAL FOREST - Wild Alabama will lead two nature hikes into the Sipsey Wilderness this month to view rock formations that are revealed when the leaves are off the trees The hikes will be Thursday, Jan. 16, and Thursday, Jan. 30.

BANKHEAD NATIONAL FOREST - Wild Alabama has planned a meaningful day of service for Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, Monday, Jan. 20, in the Bankhead National Forest.
As part of the Partners Against a Littered State (PALS) Adopt-a-Mile program, Wild Alabama adopted a five-mile stretch of Highway 33.

The workdays on Friday, April 4, and Tuesday, April 29, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will be led by Lindsay Madison. The Wednesday, April 16, workday led by Morgan (no last name available) will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Volunteers should meet at the Sipsey River Trailhead in the upper parking lot at Sipsey Fork, wear close-toed shoes, long pants and bug spray and bring their own water and snacks.

BANKHEAD NATIONAL FOREST - Wild Alabama will log some miles toward the 100 Alabama Miles Challenge with a stewardship hike in the Sipsey Wilderness on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The 100 Alabama Miles Challenge is a statewide program that challenges Alabamians to walk, run, hike, bike, swim, paddle ride or roll 100 miles each year and to do so by visiting Alabama’s many parks, nature preserves and rivers.
The challenge can be accomplished by moving just two miles each week.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Rock Creek Baptist Church, located off of Highway 33 just north of Double Springs, will welcome The Glory Echoes in concert Sunday, April 27, at 5 p.m. A fellowship meal will be served after the singing. Pastor Kirk Cagle and the church congregation cordially invite everyone to attend.
