Winston County Extension hosting pruning workshop February 13

ADDISON - Late winter and early spring are excellent times to prune many home landscape and fruit‑bearing plants, and an upcoming workshop will teach you how.

On Friday, February 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Alabama Cooperative Extension System will host a hands‑on pruning workshop at the Addison Community Center. Participants will visit Brannon Farms, a beautiful local farm with more than 100 peach trees available for practicing these pruning techniques. The workshop will cover the science behind pruning, why it is essential for plant health, and proven methods to keep your plants thriving.

Brannon Farms has been a cornerstone of the community for decades. Charles Brannon was a hardworking farmer who loved his family. He grew vegetables and peaches, ran a fruit stand for years, and raised cows and honeybees. His wife, Kathy Brannon, is excited to welcome participants to the farm for this special event.

Registration for the workshop is $10 per person, with optional pruner sharpening available for an additional $5. Winston County Soil and Water Conservation District will help sponsor this event. Lunch will be provided.

To register, visit www.aces.edu/go/WinstonPruningWorkshop or call the Winston County Extension Office at (205) 489-5376.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from experts, connect with your community, and experience pruning in a real orchard setting.
