ALDOT grant awarded

County Road 24 serves as a primary route for industrial traffic.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - A $393,800 Industrial Access grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation will go a long way to help several industries in  Double Springs, with major improvements and a much needed stop sign at a dangerous intersection on County Road 24 planned.

The town had originally made an application for turning lanes on Highway 33 leading into the town’s industrial park, as well as widening the entrance to Industrial Road, noted Mayor Elmo Robinson.

“It was so expensive that the highway department turned it down,” said Robinson, noting that project had been estimated to cost $1 million.
