Hayes explains tax’s approval

Roger Hayes

DOUBLE SPRINGS -  Winston County Commission Chairman Roger Hayes took the opportunity during the commission’s March 12, meeting to explain his views on the millage, the need for additional healthcare services for Winston County, as well as the importance of the Attorney General’s opinion, which authorized the commission’s vote.
Hayes began addressing the issue of the two-mill tax by offering his apology for having to leave quickly after the vote was taken at the commission’s last meeting. The reason he left was to attend  his mother’s funeral.
Hayes said his leaving was justified, yet he promised to explain to the people about the commission’s recent decision, to help them understand why it was made and what the decision will mean.
