Lions win over Curry

HALEYVILLE -  The Haleyville High School Lions (3-3, 2-1) captured their second region win Friday night, Oct. 4. The Lions won 15-6 over the Curry Yellow Jackets (0-6, 0-3).
HHS had 253 total offensive yards, with quarterback Eli Musso 3/9 and 33 yards in the passing department. He garnered 21 yards on seven carries and one touchdown. Leading rusher was Ty Black with 18 carries and 105 yards. Total team carries were 41, gaining  220 yards.

WCHS splits with Carbon Hill and Curry

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Winston County Lady Yellow Jackets got off to a slow start, losing their first set to Carbon Hill 25-16, Monday, Sept. 16.
WCHS fired up their engines in the next two sets to win the match 25-18 and 16-14.
The Lady Jackets hosted a tri-match with Carbon Hill and Curry, losing to the Curry Yellow Jackets.
In the Carbon Hill match, leading stats for the Lady Jackets were:
Mackenzie Blackwood, 10 kills and 6 digs;
Makayla Lindsey, 5 kills, 2 blocks;
Jassmine Ergle, 6 blocks, 2 kills;

Addison shuts out Curry in season opener

ADDISON - No stingers were seen from the Curry Yellow Jackets as the Addison Bulldogs stomped their way to victory in a 37-0 shutout Friday, Aug. 23, at A.G. Hicks Stadium.
At the end of the first quarter, the score was still zero for both teams, but everything clicked for Addison during the second quarter where they blazed a scorching hot trail to the end zone for 27 points. The first touchdown came with 11:04 remaining in the first half with a drive up to the one-yard line taken over by Grant Rice for the touchdown.  Eli Howse added the point after,making the score 7-0.

Late score knocks HHS out of area tournament

CURRY - The Haleyville Lady Lions lost the lead late in a 2-1 defeat to Curry, at Curry High School in the 4A Area 11 tournament. The game was tied at one with Curry batting in the bottom of the fifth, when Rae Ann Hall singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Curry pitchers struck out zero, while Lady Lions sat down six.
In the first inning, Curry got their offense started when Laycee Cordell singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
