Double Springs Elementary recognized for excellence with a true-blue award


DSES students and faculty, shown here enjoying the WCHS band's Christmas concert, decked themselves as well as the halls in blue and celebrated a "Blue Christmas" in honor of their Blue Ribbon award.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Double Springs Elementary School has achieved a new level of success by becoming a Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School, the highest status awarded by the non-profit organization Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, Inc.

Soccer banquet honors athletes


A banquet was recently held to honor the Haleyville High School soccer teams. Tang Soo Do students earn medals


The All American Tang Soo Do students from the Haleyville and Russellville studios received about 32 medals at the recent spring tournament held in Muscle Shoals. The studio is open in Haleyville on Tuesday and Thursday at the Neighborhood Facilities Building for age six and up.

HHS volleyball award winners


The Haleyville High School volleyball team recently held its sports banquet at the commons area at HHS. Three awards were presented to the following: from left, Ashton McCullar, Heart of the Lion; Alli Temple, Most Valuable Player; and Kaylee Riddle, Most Improved. Team coach is Brent McCoy. The Lions won the 4A Area 12 championship for the 2018 season.
