BEAR CREEK - The Bear Creek Police Department is launching a new program, partnering with the Black Warrior Council of Boy Scouts of America, to present a more positive image of law enforcement while involving youth interested in criminal justice or law enforcement careers.

Cocaine distribution operation taken down

An assortment of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as numerous firearms were confiscated from a 30th Street residence in Haleyville March 28.

HALEYVILLE - The charge of using a firearm to further interest of a criminal enterprise was among the many criminal counts facing two Haleyville residents in relation to an alleged cocaine distribution operation.

COPS grant awarded to Bear Creek

BEAR CREEK - Excessive overtime costs for extra hours worked by officers with the Bear Creek Police Department will now be relieved, thanks to a $103,280 COPS (Community Oriented Policing Services) Hire grant through the U.S. Department of Justice.

BEAR CREEK - The concept of community policing is being put into action for the Town of Bear Creek by newly installed chief Eddie Collins, who met with the mayor and council at their April 5, town council meeting to discuss new ideas and a fresh approach to law enforcement.

BEAR CREEK    -  A new location is ahead for the Bear Creek Police Department, which will not only relocate to the former town hall building but in the process will also establish a dispatch center  and complete headquarters for police operations.

BEAR CREEK  -  Police Officer Austin Lewis was in the right place at the right time, when he noticed a suspicious vehicle leading to the confiscation of methamphetamine, marijuana and the arrest of both the driver and passenger on Feb. 9.
