DOUBLE SPRINGS - An Arley resident has pleaded guilty to murder and arson charges in the death of former Helicon firefighter David Brian Hayes, who was found shot in his home, which had been set on fire, authorities said.

HALEYVILLE - An 84-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of an 89-year-old woman found in the house where he was living Saturday morning, Aug. 7.

WINSTON COUNTY - Preliminary autopsy reports have come back from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville in the deaths of Angela Lynne Clark and Siddric Lee Ricky Loveless, indicating that the deaths were a homicide/suicide, not a double homicide as reported in the June 16, edition of the Alabamian.

Clark and Loveless were found dead June 7 at a residence on County Road 461 near Haleyville.

ASHRIDGE - Two Haleyville men face murder charges in the death of 38-year-old Phillip Craig Miles, whose body was discovered by his daughter at his residence in the Ashridge area March 31.

HELICON - The death of a man in the Helicon area has been termed a homicide and is under active investigation by the Winston County Sheriff's Office, Winston County District Attorney's Office and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
