Two contracts accepted at water board meeting

HALEYVILLE - A good fiscal year with sound accounting gave the Haleyville Water Works and Sewer Board a satisfying review of their finances by Rick McCabe, CPA, of McCabe and Associates of Fayette. The review was given at the regular monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 25.
The finances were in great shape, according to McCabe, allowing the board to adopt a resolution for a clean water state revolving fund revenue bond.
Water bills to go up slightly in April
HALEYVILLE - If a utility has an operating expense increase, they have one of two options: absorb the loss or pass the cost on to their customers. To keep the same status, several water utilities in the area are passing the cost on to the customers.
$1.1 million resolution passed for water and sewer improvements
Mayor Ken Sunseri has just signed a resolution for the 2019 Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan in the amount of $1,182,100.
HALEYVILLE - When the Haleyville Water Works and Sewer Board did not receive the principal forgiveness of $500,000 on a $1.5 million loan, not all of the items could be completed at this time. The HWWSB approved a resolution for one of the scenarios given by Engineer Calvin Cassady in the amount of $1,182,100, at their meeting, Tuesday, May 28, for the 2019 “Clean Water State Revolving Fund” loan.
Principal forgiveness not forgiven
Pump station 12, in Blake Curve on Newburg Road, is one of the pump stations to be replaced with money received from the $1 million loan.
HALEYVILLE - When the Haleyville Water Works and Sewer Board applied for a $1.5 million loan to work on a sewer project, it was hoped to receive principal forgiveness in the amount of $500,000. The loan was approved, but Haleyville did not qualify for the principal forgiveness, as other cities showed more need. This was the topic at the recent board meeting on Tuesday, April 23.

HALEYVILLE - A net loss for the Haleyville Water and Sewer Board is due to depreciation according to an audit by Rick McCabe, owner of McCabe and Associates of Fayette, it was learned at the recent board meeting on Tuesday, July 24.
