Stephen Ellis Turner

Stephen Ellis Turner, 73, of Double Springs, passed away Feb.12, 2023, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center.

He was born June 19, 1949, in Birmingham. He was a friend to all who knew him. He was such a good man: an expert-level husband, father and grandfather. He was a fierce preacher who loved the Lord with all his heart. He gave the best hugs.

A visitation was held on Tuesday, Feb.14, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs with services to follow. Brother Donnie Dodd and Brother Steve Wakefield will officiate. Interment was in Kelly Mill Cemetery.

Steve is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Mark Turner and wife Roxanne, Tim Cockrell and wife Vicki and David Turner and wife Bethany; daughter, Vanessa Rice and husband Dustin; grandchildren, Drew Turner and wife Meagan, Matt Turner (Rachel), Scarlet Day (Tyler), Eli Turner (Brianna), Noah Rice, Grant Rice, Kohen Rice, Kyle Wallace and wife Ashton, Trenton Cockrell, Emily Cockrell, Brice Wells, Brooklyn Wells, Baylor Wells and Brianna Jane Turner; great grandchildren, Kinleigh Grace, Kaiden Mark and Malakai; sister, Sheila Mitchell and husband Jerry; and brother, Kenny Turner and wife Charlotte.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jasper Ellis Turner; mother, Ida Odell McCarter Turner; son, Timothy Dale Turner; grandson, Brandon Dale Turner; wife, Annie Ruth Roberts Turner; brothers, Talmadge Ray Turner, Timothy Lee Turner, and Richard Turner.
