Bear Creek firefighters use fans and other equipment to help draw smoke out of a home on Peppertree Lane that sustained heavy damage from a fire.
BEAR CREEK - A late afternoon fire Friday, January 12, has left a Bear Creek woman displaced.
Barbara Baker was at work when she got a call about the fire. Baker rushed to the singlewide manufactured home where she lives, located on Peppertree Lane off of County Highway 106 to find the Bear Creek Fire Department and Bear Creek Police on scene, as well as Haleyville Fire Department, which provided mutual aid. There is heavy fire damage in the kitchen, as well as heat, smoke and water damage throughout the structure.
Baker told the Alabamian she was not sure where she was going to stay, now that her home has been damaged in the fire. She is in need of assistance and can be reached at (256) 494-3440. She thanks the community in advance for its help.
The Alabamian will have more on this story in our Wednesday, January 17, edition.
