ARLEY - A 17-year-old Mobile teen was pronounced dead Sunday night, July 27, after being found in over 30 feet of water resulting from a swimming incident on Smith Lake--marking the first drowning this year in Winston County, confirmed the Winston County Emergency Management Agency.
William Glass, 17, of Mobile, was pronounced dead at 9:45 p.m. by Winston County Coroner Tracey Holley, who transported the body from the scene to the coroner’s office, Holley said.
Glass’s body has since been released to Radney Funeral Home, Mobile, for arrangements, Holley said.
A diver with the Winston County Search and Dive team is being commended for recovering the teen in about 10 minutes, first responders on the scene said.
