Free tax-prep being offered at Arley Public Library every Friday

ARLEY - For the first time in six years, the Arley Public Library will be hosting free tax preparation services.
Roberta Bush with AARP Foundation Tax Aide will be at the Arley Public Library, located on County Road 41 next to Arley Town Hall, every Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. through the tax deadline of April 15 to assist anyone needing help filing taxes.  
“We are excited to offer this free service to the public again, for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak of 2020,”  Bush said.
AARP Foundation Tax Aide services are available to everyone, not just seniors.  According to their website, taxaide.aarpfoundation.org, residents need to bring the following items with them to their appointment:

• government-issued photo ID for each taxpayer on the return;
• Social Security cards or ITIN documentation for all taxpayers and dependents named on the return;
• Copy of prior year tax return;
• Income documents for wages, interest, dividends, capital gains/losses, unemployment compensation, pensions and other retirement income, Social Security benefits and self-employment;
• Brokerage statements – sale of stocks or bonds;
• Healthcare – Forms 1095-A if have marketplace insurance;
• Mortgage interest, medical/dental expenses, charitable donations, and sales, income or property taxes;
• Records of federal and state income taxes paid;
• Checking or savings account info (printed or actual copy) for direct deposit of refund or direct debit of balance due;
• Bring your Identity Protection personal identification number (IP Pin) if you have one:
• Any other recent IRS or state tax department correspondence.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are also being made to guarantee quick service.  To make an appointment, call (731) 540-9305.
