HALEYVILLE - The Heart of Haleyville Park downtown will come alive this Friday night, April 24, with Singo, a musical version of the game Bingo, featuring 1980s era music.
The event is free of charge to the public, noted Brian Berry, a member of the Heart of Haleyville Park committee.
Singo will begin 7 p.m., with DJ Kase Filzzz playing a segment of a 1980s song. Those playing bingo will have a board containing various 1980s song titles and the artist who sang the song, replacing the usual bingo format of numbers on each square of the card, Berry explained.
Once the DJ plays a segment of the song, participants must locate and mark the square on their bingo card containing the song title and artist.
All types of prizes will be awarded for five winners per card, as well as the grand prize of the best dressed 1980s person in attendance, so the public is encouraged to attend in their best 80s attire, organizers said.
Singo will continue until all prizes have been given out, according to Berry.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved into the community safe room below Haleyville City Hall.
The public is invited to bring their portable chairs or blankets and enjoy a family-friendly event dating back to the era of 1980s music.
