Projects being considered by the Winston County Commission using funds from the Secure Rural School and Community Self Determination Act
Firewise program promotes the encouragement of local solutions for safety by encouraging citizens and youth to take individual responsibility for preparing their homes from the risk of wildfire. It will promote Firewise concepts into outdoor based activities. Firewise educational activities will be taught by U.S. Forest Service employees with specialized training and experience in prescribed fire use and fire fighting. Printed materials about the importance of defensible space around homes will be provided.
